ABOUT ME

A native of Perú, Julissa grew up in a quiet little city called Arequipa. From her earliest years she showed artistic inclinations, but fell madly in love with theater the moment she stepped on stage for the first time. It was her first year in high school, and the magic of theater would become her way of life.

 

It was also during her high school years that Julissa began writing, developing a talent for creating and reciting poetry.

 

After graduating University in Perú she moved to New York City to attend the prestigious HB Studio for a three-year conservatory program under the direction of Carol Rosenfeld. Here Julissa was part of the HB Ensemble.

Julissa gave an outstanding performance next to mega star KEANU REEVES  and the renowned ANA DE ARMAS in the feature film EXPOSED (Lionsgate). She can currently be seen in the TV Series WE SPEAK NYC directed by the acclaimed George LaVoo. Many of her short films have been featured at prestigious film festivals, including TriBeCa Film Festival, HBO New York ILFF, San Diego LFF, Human Rights FF Argentina, Latino Film Festival Belgium, Shorts Shorts Festival Mexico, FEMCINE Chile, among others.

 

Julissa has performed leading roles at some of the most renowned Off Broadway theaters, such as LA MAMA THEATRE (LUZ, written by Catherine Filloux and directed by Jose Zayas), IATI (NANAS, directed by Tatiana Pandiani) and REPERTORIO ESPAÑOL (LA NIÑA QUE MORIA A CADA RATO). Julissa won an HOLA Award for her outstanding performance in NANAS and was nominated for an ACE Award and an ATI Award for Best Actress for her role as Mishna in LA NIÑA QUE MORIA A CADA RATO.

 

Julissa has built a large repertoire of poems and short stories. She has worked with French singer song writer David Manet, with whom she co wrote several songs in Spanish. She is currently developing her first feature length script. 

 

Julissa is also a proud, deeply devoted member of "R.Evolución Latina," an organization founded and directed by Broadway Choreographer Luis Salgado, whose mission is inspire growth within the Latino Community through the power of art and performance.

 

She has also taken part in the Hagen Teacher Training at HB Studio.

 

With all these blessings, Julissa is absolutely thankful for such an amazing journey and is fully committed to making a difference through the arts.
